The Ford Mustang Fox body was different things for different people, considering it debuted at the end of the malaise era, when things were not right with the American automobile industry. Once they launched the GT versions, things began to look up.

Instagrammer and well-known 3D designer and animator, Rostislav Prokop, sees the Fox body Mustang GT more like a hero and his three renders prove it. Since they look so good, we want one yesterday.

This Is The Fox Body Mustang Everyone Needs

Rostislav has made three renders of the Ford Mustang GT Fox body and all of them bear a slight Mad Max: Fury Road-like feel, with a Cyclops-like air intake replacing the right headlight.

The first shows the ‘Stang in bright orange, as a very road-chewing Mustang, with a grille that is more weapon-like. Frankly, this could turn the road into sushi by just driving over it.

The second comes in silver, and if Batman could just move a little away from black, we could see him driving this, especially since the rear end looks tacked on, in a very dystopian design that would have all eyes on it. The grille gets a sleeker treatment in this, and there’s a hood scoop on it that would be easily spotted from space.

The modern Ford GT is bowing out in 2022 and the company has come up with a final Heritage Edition model to mark the occasion. It’s the ninth such edition of the current-generation car, and the tenth if you count its predecessor from 2005-2006.

The 2022 Ford GT LM Edition pays tribute to Ford’s Le Mans-winning supercar that includes wins in 2016 and the historic 1-2-3 podium sweep in 1966. Deliveries of the planned 20 units begin this fall with production wrapping up before the end of the year.

For the LM Edition, the carbon fibre body is lacquered in Liquid Silver exterior paint and finished in either a red or blue theme throughout, honouring the red and blue race livery of the Le Mans-winning No. 68 Ford GT. Customers can choose from exposed red or blue tinted carbon fibre that underscores the lower aerodynamics of the supercar. This includes tinting the ultra-lightweight material on the front splitter, side sills and door sills, plus engine bay louvers, mirror stalks and rear diffuser. 

The 20-inch carbon fibre wheels have matching accents, while the Brembo brake callipers behind them are painted in black. Unique to the Ford GT LM is a 3D titanium-printed dual-exhaust that features a cyclonic design inside the tips. Above those, a titanium “GT LM” badge is also 3D-printed.

If you just look at the stats for each car, a Tesla Model S Plaid should easily walk away from a Ford Mustang GT in a drag race. But there are dozens of videos online showing drag races between these two cars, and the outcome is not always the same. Sometimes the Ford Mustang GT wins.

That can happen because there are many factors besides horsepower, torque, and curb weight that can influence the outcome of a drag race. For instance, driver skills can greatly affect how a car performs.

With that in mind, Drag Racing and Car Stuff has a video on their YouTube Channel in which two different Tesla Model S Plaids drag race against three different Ford Mustang GTs. The results of these races show how different drivers in different examples of the same car can have different results in a drag race.

First 2 Races Against Sixth-Generation Mustang GT

The Tesla Model S Plaid’s first opponent is a sixth-generation Ford Mustang GT. With 1,050 lb-ft of torque going to all four wheels, the Tesla should be able to get off the line quicker. But that is not the case here.

The Mustang GT leaps off the line like a cheetah and takes a lead that it maintains all throughout the 1/4-mile race. Ford’s pony car crosses the finish line in 9.30 seconds while traveling at 135 mph. Coming in second is the Tesla at 9.44 seconds with a speed of 140.68 mph.

On one of the longest runways in the world, a highly modified Ford GT goes 310.8 mph — with barely enough room to stop before hitting the weeds.

Johnny Bohmer is claiming the title of fastest street-legal car in the world. His BADD GT, a 2006 Ford GT, topped 310 mph on the extralong runway at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

One Owner, Low Miles

Bohmer’s history with this Ford GT is a long one. He bought the car new in 2006 and from day one the goal was to make it faster. Not just that, but to build the fastest street car in the world and to break the 300mph barrier.

The BADD GT — Bohmer’s name for the car — broke 250 mph in the standing mile in 2010. It then scored a Guinness World Record for the standing mile when it hit 282.232 mph in 2012.

Bohmer is understandably proud of the new top speed, but he didn’t have much to say about the car. We do know that it still has a 5.4L V8, though there isn’t much left in it that originally came from Ford. The engine has twin turbos, and way back in 2018 it made 2,700 horsepower. Back then it ran to just shy of 300 mph, so we’re thinking it has a whole lot more power today.

The Ford GT40 was made famous long before the movie “Ford vs. Ferrari.” When Henry Ford II was rebuffed by Enzo Ferrari in his attempt to buy the Italian automaker, Ford took it personally and began an all-out assault to beat Ferrari at Le Mans. Not only did he succeed, he did it in grand fashion as a four-time consecutive winner (1966-69), including a first through third sweep in 1966. The original car got its name due to its 40-inch height. The second and third generation, like this 2021 Ford GT, are simply referred to as GTs, sitting a bit higher than the 40 inches at which their namesake’s sat. Like the original though, performance of the current version is exemplary, with 60 MPH coming up from rest in just 3.0 seconds and a blistering 216 MPH top speed.

The 2024 Ford Mustang is an all-new offering that harkens back emotionally to the car that would lend its name to the market segment it created – the pony car.

There was no other sports car like the Mustang back in 1964, but it sent competitors scrambling to capture the same sports coupe vibe, with names like Barracuda, Cougar, Firebird, Javelin and even Celica. Among them, Mustang’s two chief rivals – the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger – are still competing head-to-head with Mustang for present pony-car Alpha status.
