RISING star Jett Johnson is in the midst of a test day aboard an MW Motorsport Nissan Supercar with a view to running in the 2023 Dunlop Super3 Series.
The Johnson camp and MWM owner Matt White held discussions during the recent Adelaide 500 and are today working together at Winton Motor Raceway.
The deal is by no means set in stone, with Johnson’s father Steven noting that they are still working to secure the sufficient sponsorship budget.
Rather, it is 17-year-old Jett’s first full day in a Supercar, his only previous experience coming aboard a Dick Johnson Racing Mustang in May at Queensland Raceway.
On that occasion, the three generations of Johnson (Dick, Steven and Jett) shared the track in a special moment before Jett joined Kai Allen and Thomas Sargent in splitting time aboard the Michael Anderson-owned car for an evaluation in damp conditions.
Speaking about what may eventuate from today’s outing, Steven told V8 Sleuth: “Certainly it’s something that if we can get all of the budget together is an option for him for next year.”
All going to plan, Jett will be entered by MWM, who’ll retain ownership of the car.
“It would be Matt’s car, he would still own it if we were to do something with him and we would basically just come along and race it, pretty much like what’s happened for Matty up until now with his cars that he’s had,” said Steven.
