What if a car design company decided that it could make a tightly engineered, iconic sports car into a thing that’s even more magnificent? This has been the aim of Singer Vehicle Designs since 2009. Founded by Rob Dickinson, formerly from the band Catherine Wheel, Singer modifies Porsche 911s to create the best bespoke versions of them.
In this video, Jeff Sutton of the YouTube channel Jalopy Jeff, shows us what one of Singer’s Porsche 911 DLS cars looks like up close.
Elevating The Porsche 911 With Bespoke Details
Rob Dickinson started Singer Vehicle Design after receiving universally positive feedback on his own modded Porsche 911, nicknamed the “Brown Bomber”. He decided to focus on 964-generation 911s, covering the years from 1989 to 1994. The goal was to reimagine these Porsches with the kind of bespoke features that enhance their finest characteristics.
Currently, Singer has modified 911s into two models, the Classics and the DLSs (Dynamics and Lightweighting Study). The company has modified 450 Classics and only 75 of the DLSs. All of these models have sold, and the company is now shifting its focus away from the naturally aspirated models toward a turbocharged one known as the Turbo Study.
