There’s a lot of social pressure on luxury consumers to buy cleaner, electrified cars, says
Carlos Tavares,
the CEO of global automaker Stellantis.
He and Davide Grasso, Maserati’s CEO, took part in a virtual question-and-answer session on Monday about the future of the venerable Italian supercar brand. Many of the questions were about electrification, and Tavares—who is enthusiastically pushing parent company Stellantis to plug in—answered most of them.
“Wealthy customers are very sensitive to brand, and they believe their lifestyles should be protecting the planet. It’s a trend we can easily see and measure. So we will offer them escape from that pressure,” Tavares says.
