As everyone knows, it’s called the Purosangue, and guns for the likes of the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga Speed, and Aston Martin DBX707. The Purosangue represents Ferrari’s first venture into the world of super SUVs (it’s actually a crossover though), and they may be a little late to the high-riding fiesta, but they should cash in big time.
You see, Lamborghini more than doubled their sales with the Urus, so Ferrari has high expectations from the Purosangue. It targets their usual clientele, as well as new customers, for whom having extra seats at the back, four doors, and a generous ground clearance means more than tackling corners fast in a mid-engine supercar. But then again, with an MSRP of nearly $400,000 stateside, anyone who can afford it probably calls the Roma pocket change.
Unveiled half a year ago, and with production set to commence at Maranello, the Purosangue was designed by Ferrari’s Styling Center, under the close watch of Flavio Manzoni, who has overseen the development of other Prancing Horses, including the LaFerrari. Described as a machine “unlike any other,” it uses a naturally aspirated V12, with a 6.5-liter displacement. The engine peaks at 716 Nm (528 lb-ft), and it develops 725 ps (715 hp/533 kW). The Italian company claims that it will do over 310 kph (193 mph) and that the 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) acceleration takes only 3.3 seconds, or three tenths faster than the mighty Enzo.
Right now, Ferrari’s focus is on electrification….

Ferrari Purosangue comes as the latest entrant in super SUV segment.
With the growing popularity and demand for SUVs, supercar manufacturers are increasingly aiming to gain a stronger footprint in the space by introducing super SUVs. Lamborghini and Aston Martin have already entered the space with their respective models, such as Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX. Now, Ferrari too has entered the space increasing the excitement in the segment.

Ferrari Purosangue, the first-ever SUV from the iconic Italian supercar brand, broke cover on September 13. This comes as a spiritual successor of the Ferrari FF and Ferrari GTC4Lusso. However, despite being positioned in the SUV segment and pitted against rivals such as Urus and DBX, Ferrari is not ready to term it as an SUV.
Here is a comparison between Ferrari Purosangue, Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX.

Ferrari is all set to uncover its Purosangue on September 13. This super SUV is the successor of the Ferrari FF and GTC4Lusso announced back in 2018. Moreover, the arrival of this car was promised before the end of 2022. Currently, the Italian automaker has said that its versions with a purely internal combustion engine and a hybrid powertrain would be available soon and it is slated to go on sale next year.
Interestingly, Ferrari has teased the upcoming performance SUV several times through multiple teaser images and videos. Now, it has teased the exhaust note of the supercar’s engine. The Ferrari Purosangue is expected to lock horns with Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin DBX, Rolls Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga and Maserati Levante.
The Italian automaker aims to keep the production of the upcoming Purosangue exclusively limited. Ferrari plans to keep the production of the SUV limited to less than 20 per cent of the brand’s total annual deliveries. Notably, Ferrari Purosangue comes as the first-mass produced Ferrari with a five-door layout.

Ferrari, an Italian sports car manufacturer, has recently shared that it would reveal its first ever SUV, the Purosangue on September 13. The automaker has teased its front end with angled headlights. This much awaited Italian SUV will first come with a new V12 engine.
Powertrain of Ferrari Purosangue
Ferrari has confirmed that its upcoming Purosangue SUV will get a new naturally aspirated V12 engine. Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari said in a statement, “We have tested several options. It was clear that the V12, for the performance and driving experience it could provide, was the right option for the market.”
Vigna also stated that from the test drives in the hills around Maranello, the automaker can tell that this upcoming SUV is a true sportscar and unlike any other. He said, “Purosangue will be 100 per cent Ferrari and it will meet and exceed all the demands of performance, innovation and design that you would expect from us.”

After years of rumors, renders, leaks and legal battles, Ferrari has finally crumbled and admitted that 2022 is the year it finally unveils its version of a luxury utility vehicle. An oxymoron if ever there was one.
Italy’s most famous car maker has been churning out stunning supercars for 75 years. It’s even celebrating this anniversary with the latest naming convention for its F1 racer, the F1-75.
But, in a wild departure from the sleek, elegant art form of supercar design, it is instead preparing to unveil its first Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
Reported to be called the Ferrari Purosangue, the new car has been doing the rounds in the rumor mill for years. It will see Ferrari become one of the last luxury car makers to enter the SUV segment, following similar moves from Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Bentley and Porsche.
Ferrari confirmed the car and teased a glimpse of what it could look like with posts across its social media accounts this week. The Italian company shared an image of the new car’s front end, showing distinct similarities to Ferrari’s SF90 Stradale. Albeit, much taller and heftier than this sleek supercar.
G/O Media may get a commission
Details of the new Ferrari are thin on the ground. The Italian firm has so far confirmed that it will have four-wheel-drive and that the car will run on a new front mid-engine platform.
In an earnings call way back in 2018, Ferrari also confirmed that the SUV will utilize a newly developed double-clutch transmission, and the interior will be “spacious and comfortable,” which is surely the least you can ask for in a six-figure utility vehicle?
As well as teasing an image of the front end, Ferrari confirmed that further details of the SUV would be revealed “later this year.”
The firm also said that the Purosangue’s “bloodline can be traced back through our 75-year history of innovation, evolution and uncompromising performance,” which is a very Ferrari statement to make.
Can’t wait for Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna to burst on stage at the SUV’s reveal to try and convince us all that this is the natural evolution of the Dinio or even the F12 Berlinetta.

The firm claims the new car will be a “genuine game changer” when it launches. But what performance can Ferrari muster from an SUV that can’t be unlocked by the likes of Lamborghini or Aston Martin?
That remains to be seen. But, until further details are announced, are you excited at the prospect of the Ferrari Purosangue?
Or, with an ever-growing emphasis on hybrid and electric cars, is this a vehicle that risks being outdated before it hits the streets?
his year is set to be a bumper 12 months for supercar launches with everything from all-electric and hybrid hyper-cars and a three-wheeled Morgan, to a brand new Range Rover and even an off-road Ferrari slated for release. After sifting through the busy launch calendar, here’s Luxury London’s handpicked selection of the six most exciting cars set to launch in 2022…
Land Rover Range Rover
New Range Rovers don’t come around very often, so, when they do, it’s rather a big deal. After the covers came off the original Range 53 years ago, it’s time for the much-anticipated fifth generation to make its mark on the world’s city streets, country lanes, fields and fords. “Over time, it’s created an indelible stamp on the psyche of the country,” said Jaguar Land Rover’s Chief Creative Officer, Professor Gerry McGovern, at the car’s unveiling in 2021. “It hasn’t changed too much – it’s evolved.” With its progressive looks, a tapered tail and cleaner interior, the fifth-generation Range Rover starts from £94,400 and can rise to well over £130,000 with a few of the many options selected. Be prepared for the new Range to become a mainstay of inner-city districts and affluent neighborhoods wherever you go.
Expected Q2, from £94,400, landrover.co.uk
Lotus Evija
First revealed in 2019, the Evija represented a radical new dawn for Lotus. Not only was it the marque’s first electric vehicle, it was also the most extreme performance car to come out of the Hethel carmaker, aside from its iconic Formula One cars, of course. Firmly placing Lotus in the all-electric hyper-car category, alongside the Rimac Nevera and Automobili Pininfarina Battista, the Evija is set to launch this year and boasts just short of 2,000 bhp. Limited to just 130 models, this Lotus will be a very rare sight when it hits the roads.
Expected Q2, from £1.7 million, lotuscar.com
Aston Martin DBX 707
For anyone that thought the standard Aston Martin DBX was lacking in power (with 542 bhp!), the news that the marque is launching a more potent take on its sports-orientated SUV will be welcome news. Called the 707 – which happens to be the exact figure that Aston has upgraded the power output to – the car is set to launch in the first quarter of the year when it will claim the title of ‘most powerful luxury SUV’ on the market. With more aggressive styling, a new grille, bigger rims and a sportier interior, the 707 should be a formidable opponent to the likes of Ferrari’s Purosangue or Bentley’s Bentagya Speed.
Expected Q1, from £189,000, astonmartin.com
Mercedes-AMG Project One
Sitting alongside the Aston Martin Valkyrie (also due this year), the Mercedes-AMG Project One is another rare example of Formula One technology being engineered for the road. Bearing the same three-pointed star that’s helped British Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton claim seven World Championship titles, the Mercedes-AMG name needs no introduction. Slotting in a de-tuned version of the very same 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 hybrid that’s powered the British champ’s car, the Project One churns out close to 1,000 bhp and an expected top speed of more than 220mph. Representing a new breed of extreme performance hyper-cars, beasts like the Project One have been engineered to take on both race tracks as well as everyday roads. With Lewis Hamilton believed to be one of the recipients of the £2.1 million car when it eventually hits the road later this year, expect to see one or two cruising around Monaco’s casino square sometime soon.
Expected mid-2022, from £2.1 million, mercedes-amg.com
Ferrari Purosangue
The idea of a high-riding, off-road Ferrari is a little contradictory, right? Correct. But the never-ending rise of SUVs means that there’s no stopping the most iconic sports car maker from pressing on with its most controversial model yet. Called the Purosangue – which translates as ‘thoroughbred’ – details of Ferrari’s first SUV are hard to find but the marque’s Chief Technology Officer, Michael Leiters, revealed the car could accommodate a V6, V8 or V12 engine, with the two larger engines benefiting from some form of hybridisation. Lining up to compete with the likes of Aston Martin’s DBX 707, the Lamborghini Urus and the Bentley Bentayga Speed, the Purosangue will need to bring some Maranello magic to the SUV mix in order to stand apart.
Expected Q4, price TBA, ferrari.com
Morgan Three Wheeler
Away from the automotive arms race being waged by the likes of Aston Martin, Mercedes and Lotus, plucky British brand Morgan is busy shaping up its new, eccentric three-wheeler. Carrying on Morgan’s three-wheeled heritage, which dates back to the company’s origin in 1910, the new three-wheeler is their latest take on the unusual sports car that was produced between 2011 and 2021. Equipped with aluminium coachwork, a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine from Ford and a transmission from the Mazda MX-5, the three-wheeler promises to be a lot fun when it hits the road this year.
Expected Q1, price TBA, morgan-motor.com
