Koenigsegg’s supercars can sometimes exist in the shadow of other established high-end performance cars like the McLarens, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis of the world.
But like other boutique supercar marques including Pagani, Koenigseggs are very special – in the case of the Jesko they are also very, very fast.
Chevrolet sent ripples across the supercar world with its Corvette Z06 and its supercar-bating performance, but it’s not all about straight line speed.
This video courtesy of the Top Gear YouTube channel showcases the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut: the streamlined Swedish machine with a ton of cool engineering and interesting numbers.
The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Is A 310-Mph Boutique Supercar
That 310-mph top speed is theoretical, but nevertheless we get some other important statistics in the in-car driving segment of the video.
Also dubbed as the fastest car from the fast car manufacturer, the Absolut has up to 1600 hp and 1106 lb-ft courtesy of a 5.1-liter, twin-turbocharged V8; it can reach 60 mph in around 2.5 seconds and has a flat-plane crankshaft just like the Chevy Corvette Z06 (something we hear a lot about in press surrounding the Z06).
This means that the car is a free-revving monster and comes with a special gearbox that uses 3 gears of three different ratios for a total of 9 gears, all instantly-selectable and at a fraction of the weight of a similar traditional gearbox.
